Getting onto 485 out of SC* then swinging around N to 77, you'll encounter

pretty heavy traffic heading for CLT (the airport), and then again at 77 and again at Gilead. 6am ought to be the very latest you leave, but that's still 30-40 minutes if there are no wrecks.

*Any route out of or back into SC in commutes will be even more congested on the SC roads. There are no shortcuts that aren't extremely busy very early. And the longer it takes to get to 77 in SC and from 77 to 485 in the Charlotte metro, the more congested N. Charlotte will be.
